Hi all,

I would like to know about syslog settings.

- What is "facility" of syslog ?
- And then, Could I change the facility by pfsense configuration ?

Thanks,

If you put the 3 words:

syslog facility meaning

into Google, you will see a variety of web sites which give the answer
in general.

For pfsense specifically, I await a better answer.

Hope this helps

You can enter the 3 words below into Google

pfsense syslog facility

Google will give you a number of links to pfsense specific information.

At the moment, the pfsense forum is down for maintenance, but you could
try http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=3976.0 in a couple of hours

pfSense is a full operating system running many daemons that use many
facilities and priorities. There is no way to change the "facility" of
pfSense because there isn't one.

Look at /var/etc/syslog.conf and you'll see how syslog is configured.

If you're looking to filter the events coming via remote syslog from a
pfSense unit, filter by host, not facility.

I see.

Do you have any plan to update such as above.
Thanks,

Thanks,
That is not the facility of pfSense, it is the facility for firewall log
messages generated by pf on pfSense.

And if there any updates, they would be on the ticket.
